Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure covering compute, networking, CI/CD, and observability.
- Improve developer experience by reducing friction and toil and making paved paths easier to use.
- Lead production triage by investigating logs, writing analysis scripts, and driving incidents to resolution.
- Advance infrastructure architecture for simplicity, scalability, and ease of use.
- Use AI tools effectively and help teammates adopt them productively.
- Partner with engineering teams to translate their needs into infrastructure decisions.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience configuring, operating, or maintaining Kubernetes or a similar cluster, including node pools, upgrades, scaling, and networking.
- Hands-on experience writing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code with Terraform or an equivalent such as Pulumi or CloudFormation.
- Solid engineering fundamentals and judgment around simple, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure architecture.
- Experience owning production triage, analyzing logs, forming hypotheses, scripting when useful, and driving issues to root cause.
- A combination of infrastructure/DevOps and Python software engineering skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated effective use of AI tools in engineering work.
- Collaborative approach focused on making the broader engineering organization more effective.
- Desirable experience includes Google Cloud Platform, GKE Autopilot or comparable managed Kubernetes environments, gRPC, Postgres at scale, service-oriented architectures, growth-stage infrastructure or developer-experience tooling, HIPAA or similar regulated environments, and ownership of paved-path or internal platform initiatives.
