Base Salary

$180k - $300k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and operate production AI agents that automate financial workflows and help customers use their accounting data.
  • Develop agent capabilities including tool calling, orchestration, retrieval, and integration with application data and workflows.
  • Own production agent quality through evaluations, tracing, monitoring, and systematic debugging.
  • Design safeguards for permissions, data access, human approvals, and recovery from partial failures.
  • Shape agent architecture, make architectural decisions across teams, and balance accuracy, latency, cost, and complexity.
  • Lead complex initiatives, mentor engineers, raise engineering standards, and collaborate with engineering, product, and design while remaining hands-on.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience owning consequential production systems.
  • Strong backend software engineering experience, including maintainable Python and sound judgment around APIs, data models, distributed systems, and testing.
  • Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered agents used by real customers, including tool calling, orchestration, retrieval, and workflow integration.
  • Experience improving AI agents based on real usage and operating them in production.
  • Experience making architectural decisions, leading complex initiatives, mentoring engineers, and influencing engineering standards at staff level.
  • Ability to evaluate when to use an agent, a deterministic workflow, or a combination of both, while balancing accuracy, latency, cost, and complexity.
  • Clear technical communication, cross-functional collaboration, ownership, and curiosity about accounting and financial workflows.
  • Prior fintech or accounting experience is a plus.
