$203k - $274k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive significant technical initiatives end-to-end across API, data, backend, and frontend layers.
- Architect and build scalable, secure, cloud-native applications and services.
- Remain hands-on with approximately 70% of time spent coding while setting technical direction.
- Lead complex feature design, mentor engineers, and guide a small team through programming and design problems.
- Lead requirements gathering, technical design, project planning, and test planning.
- Identify, implement, and evaluate AI-powered product and engineering opportunities.
- Champion automated testing, CI/CD, observability, performance, security, accessibility, and internationalization.
- Partner with product, design, QE, and engineering teams through technical documentation and design reviews.
- Own quality across QA, pre-production, production, and post-release stages.
Requirements
- 8+ years designing and developing online SaaS applications with full-stack expertise across frontend and backend.
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong backend expertise in Java and/or Kotlin with Spring Boot or comparable modern frameworks.
- Strong frontend expertise with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React or a comparable modern framework.
- 5+ years building and consuming web APIs and designing service interfaces, including REST and ideally gRPC and/or GraphQL.
- Deep command of the software development lifecycle and software design and architecture processes.
- Experience with automated testing, Test-Driven Development, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong technical leadership experience, including setting direction, running design reviews, presenting, and serving as a cross-functional technical resource.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
- Preferred experience with AWS, microservices, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Preferred experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, and SQL/NoSQL database design.
- Preferred hands-on experience building or integrating AI/GenAI capabilities, including LLM prompting, retrieval, model integration, and production monitoring.
- Preferred experience with observability and instrumentation, including metrics, logging, and tracing.
- Preferred business acumen and ability to connect engineering decisions to customer and business outcomes.
- Preferred track record of building strong teams through vision-setting, facilitative leadership, and talent development.
