Base Salary
$250k - $280k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build AI-native systems including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM-powered product features from prototype through production.
- Make and communicate decisions about prompting, fine-tuning, architecture, evaluation, and deployment strategies.
- Define evaluation frameworks, detect hallucinations, and implement production-ready guardrails.
- Own model deployment, monitoring, observability, latency optimization, cost management, and reliability at scale.
- Contribute across backend and frontend systems to deliver complete user-facing AI products.
- Partner with product and design to frame problems and determine what is worth building.
- Set technical direction, stay current with AI research and tooling, and raise the team’s engineering bar.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-powered systems involving retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, and agent orchestration frameworks.
- Ability to set technical direction, establish architectural patterns, make model strategy decisions, and improve AI engineering quality across teams.
- Experience owning outcomes across team boundaries and driving alignment among engineering and product stakeholders.
- Strong command of model evaluation, including evaluation suites, overfitting, bias-variance tradeoffs, and hallucination mitigation.
- Understanding of modern model architectures including transformers and diffusion models.
- Production experience with model deployment, monitoring pipelines, and latency, cost, and reliability optimization.
- Strong full-stack fundamentals and comfort working across backend and frontend systems.
- Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated product judgment.
- Experience fine-tuning foundation models is preferred.
- Familiarity with AI safety, guardrail frameworks, and responsible deployment practices is preferred.
- Experience building agentic or multi-step reasoning systems with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom orchestration frameworks is preferred.
- Experience in SaaS or product analytics environments and launching net-new teams or product areas is preferred.
