Base Salary
$125k - $229k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and operate the Ventura API layer, identity model, and developer platform.
- Own authentication, sessions, device identity, entitlements, and multi-tenant authorization.
- Design secure self-service authorization boundaries, audit trails, and identity surfaces for partners and OEMs.
- Build shared testing, rollout, and observability infrastructure for safe production changes.
- Develop the platform for user-facing web portals, including authentication, navigation, hosting, telemetry, and deployments.
- Build APIs and pipelines carrying advertising and monetization data between the OS, ad server, and wider Trade Desk platform.
- Establish shared libraries, paved paths, tooling, and developer-experience standards for Ventura teams.
- Drive operational excellence through observability, SLOs, on-call ownership, and incident response.
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing and operating production user-facing APIs at million-user scale.
- Experience with identity and access management, including sessions, devices, entitlements, and multi-tenant authorization.
- Hands-on API tooling experience including contract testing, versioning, safe rollouts, migrations, and backward compatibility.
- End-to-end ownership of production services from design through operation.
- Experience owning shared platforms used by other engineering teams and establishing standards and paved paths.
- Strong programming skills in a modern statically typed backend language.
- Understanding of relational and NoSQL data stores and safe tenant-scoped data modeling.
- Deep knowledge of reliability, observability, SLOs, tracing, structured logging, and on-call operations.
- Experience leading technical design, influencing architecture across teams, and mentoring engineers through code and design reviews.
- Strong communication skills and comfort scoping and sequencing ambiguous work.
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful backend platform, API, or identity work.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Preferred experience operating always-on services on Kubernetes and AWS at scale.
- Preferred experience with production OIDC identity providers such as Keycloak.
- Preferred experience with device attestation or public-key device identity flows such as SPIFFE, mTLS, or hardware-root-of-trust patterns.
- Familiarity with event-driven systems for telemetry, audit, or advertising pipelines.
- Smart TV, OTT, CTV, hardware fleet, or consumer-facing operating system API experience is a plus.
