Base Salary
$210k - $490k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement tools, systems, and processes that improve engineering velocity, reduce manual effort, and increase output quality.
- Use AI tools to rethink and improve engineering productivity.
- Partner with teams across OpenAI to understand workflows and build systems that address their needs.
- Partner with product engineers to establish technical foundations for new features and research capabilities.
- Guide product engineering teams on best practices for observable and scalable systems.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical incidents and help ensure system reliability.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years building infrastructure and tooling for developers.
- Experience understanding and improving the tools, processes, and frustrations that create engineering toil or burnout.
- A strong desire to learn missing skills and communicate learnings clearly and concisely.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and rapidly changing conditions.
