Responsibilities
- Analyze, customize, and enhance Apache Airflow source code to develop features and improve functionality and performance.
- Contribute patches, enhancements, and fixes to the Apache Airflow open-source community.
- Implement secure, scalable, and performant Airflow architecture.
- Develop and optimize complex Airflow DAGs and Operators for data processing and orchestration.
- Use AI coding agents by providing appropriate context, specifications, constraints, and validation criteria.
- Collaborate with internal teams and the open-source community on workflow orchestration at scale.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of software development experience with a strong focus on Python.
- At least 2 years of hands-on Apache Airflow experience, including DAG and Operator development.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms and containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to build production-grade software with AI coding agents while maintaining quality, availability, and maintainability.
- Hands-on experience delivering production-quality software using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
- Preferred qualifications include deep knowledge of Airflow architecture and internals, Airflow or open-source project contribution experience, strong communication skills, and experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or Flink.
