Base Salary
$160k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect modular software for automated optical, electrical, MEMS, and system-level test stations.
- Integrate laboratory instruments, motion systems, control electronics, DUT interfaces, and supporting hardware.
- Develop instrument drivers, hardware abstraction layers, APIs, automated sequences, calibration, limits checking, and result handling.
- Build reliable data acquisition, logging, metadata, structured storage, diagnostics, exception handling, and station monitoring systems.
- Scale prototype engineering setups into reproducible validation, qualification, manufacturing, and multi-lab test platforms.
- Support deployment, commissioning, debugging, maintenance, documentation, version control, code review, automated testing, and release management.
- Collaborate with optical, photonics, MEMS, hardware, firmware, systems, reliability, product validation, manufacturing, and operations teams.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience developing software for automated test equipment, laboratory instrumentation, semiconductor test, optical test, hardware validation, or hardware-in-the-loop systems.
- Strong Python and/or C++ software development skills, with Python strongly preferred.
- Experience controlling physical instrumentation and hardware through software and developing instrument drivers, hardware abstraction layers, automated test sequences, or station-control frameworks.
- Familiarity with VISA/PyVISA, SCPI, serial, TCP/IP, USB, GPIB, REST APIs, or vendor SDKs.
- Experience building data acquisition, logging, configuration, and structured test-result pipelines.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in modular architecture, debugging, version control, testing, and documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues spanning software, instrumentation, electrical hardware, and physical test systems.
- Experience working directly with hardware engineers, scientists, or validation teams in a laboratory environment.
- Preferred experience with optical or photonic test equipment, silicon photonics, optical transceivers, MEMS, semiconductor devices, electro-optical systems, motion control, FPGA/ASIC test boards, embedded systems, or electromechanical devices.
- Preferred familiarity with LabVIEW, TestStand, pytest, Docker, CI/CD, automated deployment, long-duration reliability testing, high-volume parametric data collection, and AI-assisted development tools.
