Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate ML models for recommendation, ranking, content understanding, or user behavior modeling.
- Own an internship project covering problem framing, feature engineering, model training, offline evaluation, and potentially online experimentation.
- Run experiments and analyze results to determine what is working and why.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to translate model improvements into production-ready solutions.
- Participate in discussions about model architecture, system design, and metric trade-offs.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong foundation in supervised learning, model evaluation, optimization, and modeling trade-offs.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with at least one ML framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience working with data, including feature engineering, exploratory analysis, and interpreting experimental results.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, version control, and collaboration on a shared codebase.
- Preferred qualifications include applied ML project or coursework experience, exposure to recommendation or ranking systems, familiarity with Spark, Hive, or cloud ML platforms, and understanding of A/B testing and statistical significance.
