Base Salary

$79k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement DNS control-plane services and APIs for zones, records, views, policies, and routing configuration.
  • Build validation, change orchestration, propagation, reconciliation, and lifecycle workflows across distributed DNS infrastructure.
  • Develop production services and libraries primarily in Java, with supporting Python automation.
  • Improve resilience through idempotent workflows, optimistic concurrency, auditability, rollback paths, canary releases, and feature flags.
  • Own metrics, logs, tracing, SLOs, runbooks, capacity planning, and on-call operational readiness.
  • Participate in incident response and root-cause analyses, and develop automation and infrastructure-as-code for troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Partner with DNS data plane, security, networking, and SRE teams on secure platform improvements.
  • Contribute through architecture and code reviews, documentation, mentoring, and technical leadership.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping and operating resilient production services.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience building production-grade distributed systems, cloud services, and/or control-plane platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, including concurrent programming and performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows for design, implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and automation while applying engineering judgment.
  • Strong API design skills, including RESTful services and OpenAPI/Swagger or comparable API contracts.
  • Experience with asynchronous processing, retries, idempotency, concurrency control, failure recovery, Linux systems, networking, and highly available distributed systems.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, Terraform, and configuration automation tools such as Ansible or Chef.
  • Strong unit, integration, and end-to-end testing discipline and secure rollout practices.
  • Clear written and verbal communication and effective cross-organizational collaboration.
  • Preferred qualifications include authoritative DNS, DNS delegation, TTLs, DNSSEC, DNS change propagation, cloud control planes, resource lifecycle management, multi-tenant APIs, TLS, HTTP, relational or distributed data stores, schema evolution, OCI DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, and 24/7 mission-critical service operations.
