Base Salary
$149k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and ship product-level features for ABC News and ABC-owned and operated station sites.
- Design specifications and technical solutions for new features, refactors, and architectural improvements.
- Develop scalable applications for high-traffic consumer environments.
- Review peer code for design, testability, and usability.
- Improve tooling, performance, accessibility, observability, and developer experience, and lead resulting work.
- Influence software engineering practices and standards while working independently with minimal guidance.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced engineers through code reviews, design discussions, on-call rotations, and one-on-one guidance.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional software engineering experience.
- Extensive experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, and modern front-end web development technologies and practices.
- Experience owning products and features through the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Experience designing, building, and delivering scalable features and applications for high-traffic environments.
- Strong commitment to software quality, automated testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to research, analyze, and solve complex technical challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Preferred experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership on complex projects.
- Preferred experience building and scaling consumer-facing web applications, integrating with content management systems and content delivery pipelines, and developing personalized experiences, recommendation engines, or feed-driven interfaces.
- Preferred familiarity with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, data-driven decision-making, performance optimization, accessibility, cloud providers, deployment tooling, and observability tools.
- Required BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent.

- The listed hiring range is $148,700 to $199,400 per year; bonus and/or long-term incentive units may also be provided.
