Base Salary
$149k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and ship product-level features for ABC News and ABC-owned television station websites.
- Design and implement scalable solutions, technical specifications, refactors, and architectural improvements.
- Improve development, coding, maintenance, system, performance, accessibility, observability, and developer-experience practices.
- Review peer code for design, testability, and usability and uphold high software quality standards.
- Identify and lead investments that improve products, systems, and services.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced engineers through reviews, design discussions, on-call rotations, and one-on-one guidance.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant professional software engineering experience.
- Extensive experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, and modern front-end web development technologies.
- Experience owning products and features through the full software development lifecycle, including deployment and ongoing support.
- Experience designing, building, and delivering scalable applications for high-traffic environments.
- Strong commitment to automated testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement of engineering standards.
- Ability to research, analyze, and solve complex technical challenges, with strong communication and attention to detail.
- Preferred: mentoring and technical leadership experience on complex projects.
- Preferred: experience with consumer-facing web applications, CMS and content delivery pipelines, A/B testing, personalization, recommendation engines, feed-driven interfaces, performance optimization, and architectural strategy.
- Preferred: experience with AWS or another major cloud provider, modern deployment tooling, web accessibility standards, and monitoring or observability tools such as New Relic or Datadog.
- Preferred: comfort using AI-powered development tools and coding assistants while validating outputs and ensuring code quality.
- Required BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent.
