Base Salary
$277k - $415k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build, evaluate, and maintain underwriting and decisioning models for Cash App Borrow and Afterpay.
- Design and evolve credit decision frameworks, including modeling, automation, and policy logic for managing credit exposure.
- Design experiments to evaluate model performance and measure effects on approval rates and losses.
- Use borrower behavior, repayment dynamics, and portfolio structure to inform model and decision-logic design.
- Provide analysis explaining model behavior, tradeoffs, and uncertainty to senior technical and business leaders.
- Own the modeling lifecycle from problem formulation and feature engineering through training, calibration, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Build agentic engineering workflows that accelerate development, testing, and documentation.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Operations on business and regulatory requirements.
- Share credit-risk modeling context across teams and shape AI developer-tooling review practices, quality standards, and governance patterns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Computer Science; advanced degrees are welcome.
- 10+ years applying AI, machine learning, or statistical modeling in decisioning contexts such as credit, risk, fraud, or recommendations.
- Experience with probabilistic models and decision systems, including calibration, score transformations, and model-output interpretation.
- Strong experimentation skills, including designing holdouts, measuring lift, and evaluating models beyond aggregate metrics.
- Experience with production model monitoring, degradation detection, and retraining strategies.
- Proficiency with LLMs, agentic coding tools, and AI-assisted automation in development workflows.
- Ability to explain modeling concepts, results, and limitations to senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
- Experience working across disciplines in environments with meaningful constraints.
