Responsibilities
- Build, test, and deploy well-defined features and improvements for Cruise services and applications.
- Translate product requirements and technical designs into clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Contribute across Java/Spring services, web applications, APIs, databases, and cloud-based systems.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions while following team engineering standards.
- Add and maintain tests, logging, metrics, and documentation for delivered code.
- Investigate production issues, support operational fixes, and escalate risks or blockers with guidance.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, analysts, and partner teams to deliver reliable Cruise capabilities.
- Learn Cruise platform dependencies and integrations, simplify existing code, improve developer experience, and share knowledge.
Requirements
- Experience developing software through professional work, internships, academic projects, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, with experience or interest in Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, testing, debugging, and version control.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar systems, break work into manageable steps, and seek guidance when needed.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills and a commitment to inclusive, respectful working relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- Preferred qualifications include Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, service-oriented application development, React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, relational or NoSQL databases, Amazon Web Services, Linux, monitoring, logging, CI/CD, and on-call support experience.
