Responsibilities

  • Translate developer and stakeholder feedback into requirements for API ecosystem tooling and automation.
  • Design and implement API lifecycle governance, SDK and documentation generation workflows, plugins, platform extensions, and infrastructure-as-code components.
  • Develop and maintain Go and Python validators, generators, CI helpers, release utilities, and supporting services.
  • Integrate gateway, routing, identity, and authorization requirements into API tooling and reference implementations.
  • Implement automated contract tests, golden tests, specification compliance checks, breaking-change detection, and compatibility checks.
  • Define deployment, release, configuration-management, CI/CD, preview-environment, and artifact-publishing practices.
  • Contribute to Kubernetes-based operations, infrastructure-as-code practices, reliability improvements, dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and incident follow-up.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal adopters, estimate work, identify dependencies and risks, and support coordinated multi-repository releases.
  • Investigate API governance and automation technologies, including MCP-based tools and AI-assisted workflows with verification and governance.
  • Mentor junior team members through code reviews and shared ownership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience building and operating production services and/or developer tooling with ownership of reliability and maintainability.
  • Working knowledge of API specifications and authentication concepts such as OpenAPI and OAuth2/OIDC; MCP familiarity is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Go and/or Python for maintainable tooling, automation, and services.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and automation-first practices; Terraform Providers and Modules familiarity is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD and Git-based workflows in Linux environments; Kubernetes familiarity is a plus.
  • Familiarity with gateway, edge, and routing patterns such as Apigee, ALB, Kubernetes Ingress, and Envoy.
  • Preferred experience with Docusaurus, Backstage, or Confluence, including plugins, theming, and platform upgrades.
  • Preferred experience integrating identity and authorization backends, including OAuth/OIDC integrations, token services, and RBAC/ABAC patterns.
  • Preferred experience with SDK generation, release and versioning strategies, compatibility testing, or broader ecosystem stewardship.
  • Demonstrated use of AI agents or skills in engineering workflows with emphasis on verification and safe operation.

  • Targeted base pay is CAD 88,000–132,000 annually for the Toronto office.
