Responsibilities
- Write and review impactful Scala code and configuration for Kubernetes and GitLab deployments.
- Maintain service health in production and drive operational excellence.
- Develop and enforce engineering standards, best practices, code review processes, and quality controls.
- Address technical debt alongside product development and advocate for time to resolve technical issues.
- Collaborate with Solutions Architects on architectural documentation and technical decisions.
- Work with Product on planning, sizing, risks, dependencies, requirements, and sprint capacity.
- Mentor junior engineers and help improve development processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Scala and related frameworks including Zio and Cats Effect.
- Experience building and maintaining APIs for high-throughput, real-time applications.
- Experience using AWS for cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with Kafka and other near-real-time messaging platforms.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as Cassandra, Redis, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Experience designing scalable, distributed software architectures.
- Strong expertise in Agile product delivery, Scrum, and Extreme Programming practices.
- Demonstrated ownership, bias toward action, and delivery-focused execution.
