Responsibilities
- Implement a primarily Python-based platform for developing, deploying, maintaining, and monitoring portfolio engineering algorithms.
- Maintain the algorithm ecosystem using Python engineering principles.
- Apply quantitative analysis, statistical techniques, and large-scale data processing to improve portfolio management workflows and investment outcomes.
- Identify and implement process improvements using data analytics.
- Integrate portfolio engineering algorithms into BlackRock’s technology platform.
- Collaborate with BlackRock technology teams and portfolio managers to design tools and algorithms for portfolio construction, optimization, trading, and risk management.
- Learn and apply emerging technologies, including AI, where appropriate.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in Python programming, algorithm engineering, or quantitative development.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in computer science, engineering, or a quantitative field with strong computing skills.
- Strong programming and object-oriented development skills in Python; Java experience is also relevant.
- Experience with software development life cycle practices, testing, version control, and CI/CD tools.
- Knowledge of the Scientific Python stack and experience handling large datasets and statistical processing.
- Experience applying mathematics and statistical techniques to complex problems.
- Investment management, trading, or finance experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of equity risk models is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and attention-to-detail skills.
