Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot embedded systems, application functions, and libraries for real-time applications.
- Develop and execute test plans and procedures for firmware applications and subsystems.
- Use oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems in laboratory work.
- Conduct experiments and simulations, analyze data, and draw logical conclusions.
- Track project schedules and communicate status updates to cross-functional teams and management.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to junior engineers.
- Collaborate with component suppliers and manufacturers on component selection and future product needs.
- Schedule and facilitate technical meetings and formal presentations.
- Support Milwaukee Tool’s development and manufacturing processes for mass production.
- Design and qualify solutions to standards including UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.
- Travel domestically and internationally approximately 10% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience with embedded C/C++ or a comparable programming language for embedded systems.
- Experience with one or more of DevOps, automated testing with LabVIEW, continuous integration/continuous deployment, hardware in the loop, unit testing, structural testing methodologies, National Instruments hardware, or TestStand.
- Experience with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer reviews.
- Strong problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, efficiency, process orientation, and ability to work under pressure.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.
- Preferred: master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: experience with CAD tools, particularly electrical or PCB design tools.
- Preferred: bare-metal C/C++ programming and bare-metal firmware development for real-time applications.
