Responsibilities
- Build and maintain packages for supported Linux distributions and architectures, including release activities.
- Develop and maintain official GitLab container images and tooling for efficient component building.
- Provide guides and infrastructure that enable development teams to integrate components into GitLab packages through self-service workflows.
- Collaborate with security teams to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities and maintain secure, up-to-date dependencies.
- Manage cloud marketplace listings and integrations with major cloud providers.
- Maintain and test installation, update, and upgrade documentation and processes before release.
- Ensure license compliance across bundled dependencies.
- Submit components and packages to partners for validation and certification.
- Review external merge requests, including dependency and security updates for bundled components.
Requirements
- Experience with Linux build toolchains such as autotools, make, CMake, and Nix.
- Production experience building container images and using container build tooling.
- Experience with Debian- and Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based systems, including building .deb and .rpm packages and packaging cloud-native applications.
- Experience with continuous integration systems such as GitLab continuous integration, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Travis CI.
- Production experience writing and maintaining complex shell scripts.
- Experience working with major cloud providers such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure.
- Strong written and spoken English communication in a remote, largely asynchronous environment.
- Additional experience with Ruby, Go, Python, Rust, Prometheus, or Grafana is helpful.
