Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deploy software across Linux distributions and Microsoft server installations.
  • Develop features for large-scale distributed systems, potentially involving file systems and databases.
  • Improve system reliability through fault-tolerant mechanisms, performance optimization, and data consistency.
  • Build and maintain Jenkins integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, debug C/C++ and Java code, and implement fixes.
  • Collaborate with globally distributed engineers to design robust solutions.
  • Engage with users and the open-source community, including browser-based compatibility concerns.
  • Understand enterprise requirements and respond to customer issues.
  • Incorporate security into software design and implementation and use software scan reporting.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Linux and its distributions.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ or Java for distributed-systems and Linux development.
  • Ability to work in command-line environments and script or debug with Shell or PowerShell.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field preferred.
  • Open-source contribution experience preferred.
  • Experience with build systems, toolchains, and cross-compilation for Linux and Microsoft preferred.
  • Familiarity with ARM and other architectures beyond x86 preferred.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI preferred.
  • Experience with distributed-systems technologies such as Kafka and RabbitMQ preferred.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and OpenShift preferred.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies preferred.
  • Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle and non-relational NoSQL databases preferred.
