Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Build and enhance CNN Digital Commerce products such as CNN Underscored.
- Design and implement complex features that improve the user experience.
- Develop, test, and deploy web applications, testing artifacts, and tooling for the CNN Commerce vertical.
- Improve the publishing platform and recommend features that support editors and audience growth.
- Collaborate with engineering, platform, editorial, programming, and other teams on engineering projects.
- Develop improved processes for insight collection and dissemination across engineering tools and products.
- Support short-term content planning processes with editorial and programming teams.
- Mentor team members, promote cooperation, and implement engineering workflow best practices.
- Monitor code health, infrastructure health, and application performance.
- Interview candidates and participate in talent acquisition activities.
Requirements
- B.S., M.S., or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, another engineering field, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of software development experience focused on application development.
- At least 5 years of experience with Node.js, Express, Vue.js, and ES6.
- Proficiency in modern JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, AWS services, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
- Expertise with Fastly, AWS, Serverless/SAM, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Jenkins, Snowflake, and Git.
- Experience building medium- to large-scale mission-critical and high-availability production systems.
- Hands-on familiarity with client and server technologies, software data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience monitoring code and infrastructure health and application performance.
- Experience in e-commerce, affiliate platforms, and consumer media.
- Experience working on Kanban or Scrum teams and with project-management tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex problems to non-engineering peers.
- Experience with interviewing and talent acquisition.
- Experience with Agile practices supporting continuous deployment and incremental delivery.
- Experience with non-procedural programming or functional-style concepts is preferred.
- Two years of object-oriented JavaScript experience is preferred.
- Active participation in the technology community is preferred.
