Base Salary
$160k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the front-end architecture for core product surfaces, including state management, data fetching, performance, and scalability.
- Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance interfaces using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Design, develop, and evolve a shared component library and design system.
- Collaborate with backend engineers on API contracts and efficient data flow using REST, SSE, GraphQL, and streaming APIs.
- Build AI-first realtime experiences with streaming and interactive components that respond to backend and model outputs.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to increase engineering velocity while maintaining correctness and quality.
- Partner with Product and Design to turn UX concepts and wireframes into production-ready features.
- Drive front-end performance, accessibility, cross-browser support, and overall quality.
- Establish front-end best practices, write clean and testable code, and lead by example in code reviews.
Requirements
- Several years of professional front-end engineering experience or equivalent experience building production applications with modern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
- Deep hands-on experience with React or Next.js and strong mastery of HTML, CSS, modern styling approaches, browser behavior, layout, and performance.
- Proven experience owning and evolving complex front-end systems and integrating with backend APIs such as REST, GraphQL, or streaming APIs.
- Experience building or supporting realtime, streaming, or AI-driven UI components.
- Strong product and UX judgment, including the ability to collaborate with designers and product managers on flows, interactions, edge cases, and trade-offs.
- Experience with testing strategies, version control using Git, and maintaining high code quality.
- Comfort with AI-augmented engineering workflows and AI tools for development, refactoring, testing, linting, and code review.
- Preferred experience building conversational or chat-based interfaces with complex client-side state, streaming responses, and dynamic message flows.
- Preferred ownership of a design system or shared component library used by multiple engineers or teams.
- Preferred deep TypeScript experience in large-scale front-end codebases.
- Preferred background in performance optimization, accessibility, and cross-browser support at scale.
- Experience in a fast-moving startup or AI-native product environment and strong cross-functional communication skills are preferred.
