Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement complex software enhancements and solutions.
- Maintain and enhance Alpha/Charles River Development modules, core frameworks, and system-critical facilities.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create sustainable solutions for complex problems.
- Lead problem solving for projects or major project phases and troubleshoot mission-critical client implementations.
- Develop and implement Java applications while learning and applying additional languages as needed.
- Review proposed changes, provide technical guidance, and participate in code reviews.
- Participate in scrum activities including standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Coordinate cross-team activities and demonstrate independent design and development capabilities.
- Mentor and guide Junior Engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or another technical field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience with the full project development lifecycle for Java applications in a similar industry.
- Strong experience with core Java, server-side Java technologies, Spring frameworks, Agile methodologies, and SQL databases.
- Experience with backend technologies such as Kafka and microservices.
- Experience or understanding of Kubernetes and a cloud platform such as Azure.
- Experience with object-oriented programming, relational databases, scripting, and new or advanced programming languages.
- Experience with frontend technologies such as React is desirable.
- Financial services experience developing wealth management solutions is desirable.
