Responsibilities

  • Develop mission-critical spacecraft command, data handling, automation, and visualization software across LEO, re-entry, interplanetary, and proximity operations missions.
  • Build full-stack web applications with database schemas, backend services, frontend interfaces, and machine-to-machine communications.
  • Support live spacecraft operations through on-call technical expertise during critical mission phases and participation in ground-based test campaigns.
  • Architect scalable and adaptable ground software systems for diverse and complex mission requirements.
  • Lead technical initiatives by facilitating scrum activities, conducting code reviews, approving software architectures, and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline plus at least five years of professional experience is required.
  • Full-stack development expertise is required, including Python for asynchronous backend development and TypeScript with Angular, React, or Vue for frontend applications.
  • Knowledge of relational database design and SQL, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, cloud providers, and Linux is required.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing and comprehensive test coverage is required.
  • Experience leading technical meetings and working collaboratively in Agile scrum environments is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include distributed systems and third-party integration experience, including metrics collection, message brokers, and time series databases such as InfluxDB.
  • Preferred qualifications include DevOps, CI/CD pipeline, REST API, TCP, WebSockets, real-time communications, satellite operations, mission design documentation, and highly available fault-tolerant systems experience.
