Responsibilities
- Architect flight software for current missions, autonomous satellite constellations, and embedded hardware products.
- Lead system trade studies and design solutions with avionics hardware, GNC, and operations teams.
- Develop and maintain regression testing frameworks for flight and embedded software product lines.
- Guide multidisciplinary teams through anomaly resolution, technical risk mitigation, and aerospace-system delivery through on-orbit operation.
- Define technical standards and best practices, facilitate architecture meetings, approve designs, and communicate FSW architecture.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, training, and on-the-job coaching.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
- Minimum five years of professional experience in a relevant discipline.
- Deep expertise in avionics software, embedded systems on resource-constrained hardware, and ideally aerospace system development, integration, and on-orbit operations.
- Strong development skills with Linux, TypeScript/JavaScript, NodeJS, Angular or similar frontend frameworks, Git, and Python.
- Ability to conduct complex problem-solving, communicate technical concepts, manage complex projects, and collaborate across spacecraft disciplines.
- Preferred experience includes Docker, Kubernetes, network programming with Sockets or WebSockets, NodeJS/NPM build systems and tooling, and Elasticsearch.
- U.S. office candidates must meet applicable ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements; New Zealand candidates must meet applicable regulated-equipment and data access requirements.
