  • Design low-bandwidth radio protocols for sending guidance data to collars and receiving animal data.
  • Implement, test, deploy, and provide ongoing production support for software across a large live fleet.
  • Debug intermittent, field-only problems using logs, telemetry, and system understanding.
  • Collaborate with firmware, backend, frontend, design, and animal experts, including observing animals in the field.
  • Improve the quality and reliability of the guidance system through better patterns, tooling, and preventative practices.
  • Support and mentor other engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and context sharing.

  • Strong ownership and root-cause investigation skills.
  • Effective collaboration and feedback skills.
  • Bonus: experience with state machines or pathfinding.
  • Bonus: experience with FreeRTOS or similar real-time operating system internals, interrupts, scheduling, priorities, and timing guarantees.
