Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the Flights target-state architecture, roadmap, milestones, standards, and guardrails.
- Design distributed systems for flight search, shopping, pricing, availability, booking, and post-booking experiences.
- Define integration patterns, API and data contracts, ownership boundaries, and SLAs across internal, airline, supplier, and third-party systems.
- Drive AI/ML, experimentation, analytics, feature-flag, and data-driven product capabilities across the Flights journey.
- Lead build/buy/partner analyses, proofs of concept, TCO/ROI assessments, architecture governance, compliance, and technical-debt management.
- Coach senior and staff engineers and improve engineering and architectural practices across the Flights organization.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture.
- Significant experience with Growth/MarTech, cloud, microservices, experimentation, data pipelines, AI/ML including generative AI, and privacy-by-design.
- Hands-on software engineering background with API design using gRPC, REST, or GraphQL, plus DevOps/CI/CD, QA, and observability/SRE practices.
- Proficiency in the Node.js ecosystem and Java/Spring ecosystem.
- Cloud-native experience, ideally with GCP, GKE, and BigQuery.
- Familiarity with marketing analytics, headless CMS, CDPs, SEO/SEM, and Core Web Vitals.
- Ability to communicate clearly, frame complex problems, influence executives and engineers, and make strategic technology decisions.
