Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Implement software development lifecycle tasks under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Design, build, and operate platform systems that improve the efficiency of PayPal’s Kubernetes environment.
- Write production code in Go, Java, and Python.
- Apply machine learning, data analysis, and AI techniques to operational and infrastructure problems.
- Build automation to reduce manual operational work and improve reliability.
- Analyze system behavior and performance at scale to improve efficiency and cost.
- Partner with application and platform/infrastructure teams to improve service operation.
- Participate in operational ownership, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation.
- Contribute to design and code reviews and help improve engineering quality.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience managing or operating large-scale clusters or production infrastructure.
- Experience applying machine learning or statistical methods to operational or infrastructure problems.
- Experience building automation for production systems.
- Familiarity with metrics, tracing, and logging observability tooling.
- Ability to work independently on well-scoped projects and help decompose larger problems with guidance.
Benefits
- Expected annual base pay is $116,500.00-$173,250.00 in San Jose, California, or $100,500.00-$149,600.00 in Scottsdale, Arizona; additional compensation may include bonus, equity, or other incentives.
