Responsibilities
- Apply engineering principles and AI techniques to solve complex problems and develop software solutions.
- Work with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features.
- Apply Microsoft’s responsible AI practices to systems and products.
- Learn and incorporate emerging AI, machine learning, engineering methods, and industry best practices.
- Improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, performance, monitoring, and operations at scale.
- Complete software projects collaboratively while seeking feedback and managing time effectively.
Requirements
- Be enrolled full time in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field during the academic term immediately before the internship.
- Have at least one semester or term remaining after completing the internship.
- Have one year of programming experience in an object-oriented language.
- Be able to submit an official or unofficial academic transcript if selected for interviews.
- Preferred: demonstrate knowledge of data structures, algorithms, computer science fundamentals, and AI/machine learning concepts.
- Preferred: have experience with AI/ML projects, machine learning models, large datasets, or real-world AI solutions.
- Preferred: be familiar with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Preferred: have used AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Microsoft Roo Code and understand their strengths and limitations.
