D-Wave SystemsResponsibilities
- Develop new features, algorithm improvements, and bug fixes for D-Wave optimization solvers.
- Design, implement, and refine advanced heuristics and exact optimization methods for large-scale combinatorial problems.
- Lead projects and technical initiatives from concept through delivery with minimal oversight.
- Contribute to the architecture and development of proprietary solvers and an open-source optimization modeling framework.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, professional services, and domain experts to tailor solutions to customer needs.
- Evaluate emerging research in discrete optimization and hybrid quantum-classical algorithms and incorporate promising ideas into the solver stack.
- Identify limitations and opportunities for performance improvements in existing codebases and processes.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience solving complex problems using algorithmic and optimization techniques in an applied setting.
- Experience developing solvers in constraint-based local search, constraint programming, mixed-integer programming, routing or scheduling engines, SAT solvers, or a similar field.
- Ability to implement algorithms in C++ and Python.
- Experience with combinatorial algorithms and discrete optimization.
- Experience with Gurobi, SCIP, CPLEX, Hexaly, OR-Tools, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Current understanding of heuristic and complete methods for discrete optimization.
- Ability to scope and estimate work, anticipate obstacles, and adapt plans proactively.
- Strong technical communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
- Creative, ownership-oriented problem solver able to work in technically demanding environments.

- Base salary targeted between $150,000 and $206,000 CAD per year.
