Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for medium-sized initiatives and mentor junior and peer engineers.
- Design scalable, maintainable web services and build and performance-tune APIs using Java or Python.
- Develop lexical, vector, and hybrid search services, advanced search algorithms, and AI-powered retrieval capabilities.
- Build reusable search tools and APIs for integration with agent frameworks and multi-step agentic workflows.
- Collaborate with data scientists to optimize relevancy models using feedback loops and behavioral data.
- Tune search results and search-engine performance against metrics such as response time, accuracy, relevancy, conversion, engagement, and retention.
- Integrate search infrastructure with services and data platforms for retrieval, indexing, and monitoring.
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines supporting efficient data flow, low-latency indexing, and real-time search.
- Design ETL/ELT pipelines and ML engineering workflows that meet performance and reliability requirements.
- Communicate technical concepts to stakeholders and influence technical direction at the business-unit level.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of professional experience in the IT industry.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, API performance and scaling, and API best practices.
- Strong command of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Significant experience developing and maintaining production-scale, customer-facing web services.
- Hands-on experience with and understanding of SQL, NoSQL, and search-engine storage technologies.
- Familiarity with AWS environments, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Practical data-engineering experience with ETL/ELT processes and deploying ML models into production is preferred.
- Experience with agentic workflows or AI-driven automation is preferred.
- Experience improving team velocity through tooling or process improvements is preferred.
