Responsibilities
- Develop and test standalone Android applications and plugins.
- Design and implement Android operating-system components, including kernel modules, device drivers, memory management, and process scheduling.
- Develop system libraries and APIs for communication between components and applications.
- Debug concurrency problems, memory leaks, system crashes, and other complex issues.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and performance test plans.
- Use Git and other version-control systems to manage code changes.
- Participate in Agile sprints, stand-ups, and related team practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and share technical knowledge.
Requirements
- Experience using an object-oriented programming language such as Java, C#, or C++.
- Willingness to adapt to Kotlin and Android-based applications.
- Ability to write clean, efficient, maintainable code using object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
- Familiarity with software development tools, version-control systems, and build tools.
- Experience working across legacy codebases and modern applications.
- Knowledge of secure software development practices and experience developing secure, resilient, and compliant mobile solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently, communicate effectively, and adapt to changing requirements.
- Desirable: knowledge of Python, Rust, Go, or additional programming languages.
- Desirable: experience delivering complex networked systems in regulated sectors such as defence, national security, telecommunications, financial services, or automotive.
- Desirable: Android application development experience, including Android SDK, application lifecycle, Android development tools, and UI/UX design principles.
- Candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.
