Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, performant, secure, and highly available systems.
- Write clean, modular, maintainable code and implement unit and integration test coverage.
- Standardize design patterns and improve engineering practices, tooling, performance, and developer experience.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Translate technical strategy into engineering tasks and contribute to prioritization and iterative delivery.
- Identify bottlenecks, system constraints, and technical debt, and drive solutions.
- Produce technical documentation, schematics, and architecture diagrams.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Use monitoring, metrics, and logging to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
Requirements
- 5+ years of technical experience, including recent experience architecting, designing, and developing platforms with Ruby on Rails, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- 3+ years of experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL and MongoDB.
- Experience with caching technologies, preferably Redis.
- Experience developing and deploying applications in cloud environments and working with cloud-native architectures and services.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, design patterns, modular code, secure coding, and testability.
- Experience with frontend frameworks such as Vue.js, Vuetify, or Angular.
- Experience designing and building REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Experience with background processing tools such as Sidekiq.
- Understanding of service-oriented or microservices architectures; event-driven patterns are a plus.
- Bonus: experience with AI-assisted development tools or AI/ML integrations, Raspberry Pi, iOS or Android applications, high-availability production environments, entertainment systems, point-of-sale, payment and card-reader integrations, CRM, loyalty, membership, monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively across geographically dispersed teams and demonstrate intellectual curiosity and continuous learning.
