Responsibilities
- Own the deployment, configuration, administration, and lifecycle of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, DLP, email security, and anti-phishing platforms.
- Define the cyber defense platform roadmap and evaluate, deploy, integrate, and rationalize security technologies.
- Engineer enterprise security data pipelines covering log onboarding, normalization, enrichment, retention, and cost management.
- Own detection content development, testing, tuning, versioning, validation, and retirement across defense platforms.
- Establish detection-as-code practices with version control, peer review, CI/CD deployment, and automated validation.
- Map detection coverage to MITRE ATT&CK and collaborate with threat intelligence, incident response, and offensive security teams.
- Build SOAR playbooks and workflow automation, including automated handling of user-reported phishing.
- Develop internal tooling, integrations, and APIs connecting security platforms with enterprise systems.
- Set technical standards for Cyber Defense technology operations and serve as the technical authority for the domain.
- Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and mentor engineers and analysts.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive experience in security engineering, security operations, or detection engineering.
- Deep hands-on expertise architecting and administering SIEM, SOAR, EDR, DLP, email security, or anti-phishing platforms.
- Strong software engineering skills in Python, Go, PowerShell, or a similar language used for security automation.
- Experience building production-quality integrations and tooling and managing detection content at scale.
- Experience measuring detection coverage against frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
- A track record of delivering operational improvements through automation.
- Ability to work autonomously in a build-from-zero environment and drive technical work across teams without direct authority.
- Experience standing up or modernizing security operations stacks, including SIEM migrations, SOAR implementations, or EDR rollouts.
- Cloud security experience, particularly with AWS-native security services.
- Experience in regulated industries such as pharma, biotech, healthcare, or financial services.
- Relevant certifications such as GIAC GCDA, GDAT, GCIA, or CISSP, or equivalent expertise.
