Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy and architecture for complex cross-border and digital-asset payment capabilities across multiple engineering teams.
- Own architectural design, technical patterns, prototyping, and implementation for cross-border money movement and digital-asset settlement systems.
- Resolve complex technical, scalability, security, reliability, and operational challenges across distributed regulated payment platforms.
- Review and validate code output, designs, patterns, and technical approaches across multiple teams.
- Mentor engineers, guide teams, and lead broad functional efforts through planning and cross-functional collaboration.
- Partner with product managers, designers, architects, support, operations, and other engineering groups to build features and resolve production issues.
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, testing, application performance, and scalability.
- Represent engineering in cross-functional sessions and influence stakeholders toward sound technical decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or relevant equivalent experience, typically combined with 12 or more years of related experience.
- Nine or more years of experience developing distributed systems, SaaS, cloud solutions, or microservices.
- Eight or more years of experience with Java and Spring, plus proficiency with Maven or Gradle.
- Hands-on Docker experience and experience designing scalable systems and delivering business-critical systems to market.
- Proven experience leading complex, large-scale payment or cross-border transaction platforms in regulated environments.
- Deep technical understanding of digital-asset or stablecoin-based systems, including security, scalability, and operational reliability.
- At least two years of front-end development experience with modern frameworks such as Angular or React.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging frameworks such as Pub/Sub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Working experience with cloud infrastructure such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
- Knowledge of secure coding, testing, software development lifecycle practices, software development methodologies, and DevOps practices.
- Preferred qualifications include an MS or PhD, JavaScript and scripting frameworks such as jQuery or AngularJS, AppDynamics, Go, ACH/EFT, RTP, FedNow, FinTech, and Kubernetes experience.
- Successful completion of a background and drug screen.

- Base pay is listed by location at $175,000–$220,000 in Phoenix or Chicago and $180,000–$240,000 in San Francisco, plus eligibility for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
