Base Salary
$212k - $265k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set architectural direction for the compliance control plane, including screening orchestration, resilience and observability, vendor-agnostic integration, and decision/data planes
- Drive complex technical problems involving multi-vendor failover, sub-second decisioning, regulator-grade auditability, and partial dependency failures
- Translate regulatory and organizational goals into engineering primitives, technical roadmaps, milestones, and execution plans
- Anticipate platform risks and scaling constraints and lead initiatives to address them
- Partner with senior leaders to align cross-functional objectives and turn regulatory requirements into engineering solutions
- Set production ownership standards for observability, alerting, and incident response
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and improve design quality and reliability across the team
Requirements
- 8+ years building production backend systems with deep expertise in Java or comparable JVM languages, Go, or Rust
- Experience owning architecture and technical direction for complex distributed systems at scale
- Strong resilience and distributed-systems design skills, including failover, graceful degradation, idempotency, and high-throughput real-time decisioning
- Excellent API design judgment with REST and gRPC
- Ability to translate regulatory obligations, audit requirements, and partner needs into durable engineering plans
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Grafana, OpenTelemetry or similar observability tooling, and cloud infrastructure, with AWS preferred
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar of a team
- Experience in fintech, payments, identity, or compliance technology is preferred, though adjacent high-stakes systems architecture experience is accepted
