Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and operate scalable Kubernetes platforms on AWS EKS and Oracle OKE.
  • Architect and manage Istio service meshes across multi-cluster and multi-cloud environments.
  • Implement canary, blue/green, traffic splitting, circuit breaking, fault injection, mTLS, zero-trust networking, and policy-based security controls.
  • Optimize cluster performance through autoscaling, node pool management, workload scheduling, and resource efficiency.
  • Manage Istio gateways, Envoy proxy configurations, external traffic integrations, and cloud networking components.
  • Build and operate observability platforms and troubleshoot Kubernetes and service-mesh issues.
  • Automate infrastructure and mesh lifecycle using Terraform, Helm, GitOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Define and drive SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets to improve reliability and service quality.
  • Enable platform self-service, mentor teams, and promote platform engineering best practices.
  • Handle ambiguity and escalations while communicating clearly with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7–9 years of business experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-on production experience in Kubernetes platform engineering with Istio and Envoy.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS EKS and Oracle OKE, including cluster architecture, operations, and scaling.
  • Proficiency with Terraform, Helm, and GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Understanding of cloud networking, including VPCs, CNIs, ingress and egress, load balancers, and network policies.
  • Experience implementing mTLS, zero-trust networking, and identity integrations such as OIDC, OAuth2, and SPIFFE/SPIRE.
  • Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Kiali, Jaeger or Zipkin, CloudWatch, or OCI Monitoring.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Experience integrating Kubernetes and Istio with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Exposure to multi-cluster or multi-cloud environments and container security tools is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as CKA, CKAD, CKS, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, or OCI Architect are desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder communication, analytical, collaboration, and leadership skills.
