Base Salary
$115k - $188k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and refine systems engineers use to compile, test, package, and validate changes.
- Contribute to common libraries, frameworks, build patterns, and service development practices.
- Improve CI speed, reliability, and development feedback loops while preserving quality and release confidence.
- Turn recurring developer pain points into durable tools, documentation, automation, and platform improvements.
- Use Cursor, Claude, and agent-based workflows to accelerate platform work and automate repetitive engineering tasks safely.
- Partner with service teams to understand needs, support adoption, and improve the developer platform’s paved path.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in Scala, Java, Kotlin, or another production language, with the ability to read, modify, test, and review service code in a large shared codebase.
- Experience with build systems, dependency management, CI, or test infrastructure; familiarity with Bazel, SBT, Maven, Gradle, GitHub Actions, or similar systems is valuable.
- Ability to debug complex build, test, and developer workflow failures and convert recurring issues into fixes, tooling, documentation, or automation.
- Product-minded approach to developer experience, including attention to usability, feedback loops, adoption, and engineering productivity.
- Comfort using AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, or similar systems for codebase exploration, migration support, test generation, CI triage, and agent orchestration.
- Ability to design AI-assisted automation with plans, prompts, verification steps, review loops, human oversight, and safety guardrails.
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate with service teams, explain trade-offs, keep stakeholders informed, and make progress in ambiguous technical areas.
