Staff Software Engineer- International
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Lead complex projects in a cross-functional engineering environment.
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain resilient and scalable customer-critical systems.
- Mentor team members, provide technical guidance, and lead technical discussions.
- Work directly with pilot customers, including occasionally on-site in restaurants, to ensure successful delivery and operation.
- Promote strong coding practices and engineering standards across the team and company.
- Use AI development tools to improve workflow, velocity, and engineering productivity.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience delivering high-quality, reliable production services using Java, Kotlin, or another object-oriented language.
- Experience architecting, supporting, and debugging large distributed and multithreaded applications.
- Ability and willingness to work across the technology stack and help engineers solve challenging problems.
- Customer-focused approach and interest in seeing people use the product in real-world settings.
- Ability to work with an agile mindset focused on delivering usable software.
- Experience with internationalization or global product launches is preferred.
