Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain backend services for the cloud-hosted PBX platform.
Contribute to architecture decisions involving functionality, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and observability.
Use profiling, optimization, and capacity analysis to improve system performance.
Debug and resolve complex issues in production and pre-production environments.
Collaborate with QA on functional and performance test strategies and scenarios.
Write clean, maintainable, unit-tested code and contribute through code reviews and mentoring.

At least 2 years of professional, backend-focused software development experience.
Recent programming experience with Python.
Experience with Linux-based development and deployments, Nginx, and Tomcat.
Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS and building and consuming APIs.
Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including schema design and query performance fundamentals.
Ability to understand and safely modify existing and legacy codebases.
Experience designing or evolving high-load and networked systems involving throughput, latency, and availability.
Experience with CI/CD practices and extensive test automation.
Ability to debug concurrency issues involving threads and synchronization or asynchronous execution patterns.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Primarily remote work with occasional visits to the Bristol office or London.
