Responsibilities
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to define requirements and comprehensive test coverage.
- Own test strategy, estimation, planning, execution, exit criteria, and QA recommendations for new features, enhancements, and production fixes.
- Perform manual and automated functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, API, service, database, and message-level testing.
- Expand backend test automation frameworks using Specflow/ReqNRoll and prioritize automation for functional and non-functional coverage.
- Test trading flows involving execution services, FIX gateways, exchange and broker connectivity, and downstream processing.
- Analyze logs, system data, databases, message flows, and application behavior to isolate defects and support root-cause analysis.
- Assess release risk, support UAT and operational readiness, and manage deployments across environments with other teams.
- Participate in requirements refinement, Three Amigos discussions, sprint planning, defect triage, demonstrations, retrospectives, and peer review.
- Document test plans, cases, and results while improving reusable test assets and reducing manual regression effort.
Requirements
- Strong professional experience testing complex trading, financial, transactional, or other high-integrity backend systems.
- Hands-on experience with manual functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Confident API and backend-service testing, including validation of requests, responses, events, and persisted data.
- Basic SQL skills for data interrogation, reconciliation, and test evidence.
- Experience diagnosing issues through application logs, service behavior, databases, and message flows.
- Practical automation experience using C# or a comparable programming language.
- Experience with Git-based version control, build and deployment tooling, and test execution in pipelines.
- Ability to translate requirements and business workflows into risk-based test coverage and traceable evidence.
- Experience taking testing from requirements analysis through QA sign-off, UAT support, and production release.
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- ISTQB or another relevant testing certification is advantageous but not required.
- Preferred experience includes exchange-traded derivatives, US Futures, electronic order management or execution systems, FIX protocol, high-throughput or low-latency distributed systems, asynchronous messaging, operational resilience, failover, disaster recovery, and controlled production releases.
- Preferred experience includes Postman, Swagger, SQL Server, Kafka, Kubernetes, Rancher, TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus, Jira, and Confluence.
- Interest or experience in AI-assisted test generation, intelligent test selection, automated defect analysis, synthetic test data generation, and quality analytics.
