Base Salary
$199k - $247k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and test tools for both employers and employees in Gusto's HR experience.
- Develop AI tools to automate compliance and document workflows for HR partners.
- Mentor engineers to tackle complex technical challenges.
- Scale one of the largest Ruby/Rails and Javascript/React applications.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Data, Design, and Platform Engineering teams to address customer pain points.
- Prototype, iterate, and launch products that customers love.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Experience in compliance-heavy domains like HR, payroll, or benefits is preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multi-quarter projects with measurable customer impact.
- Experience driving large, cross-functional projects through ambiguity.
- Familiarity with agentic coding tools to enhance engineering workflows.
- Interest in building agents and MCP tools with a focus on safety.
