Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for APIs, microservices, web applications, integrations, and system workflows.
- Automate functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and performance tests.
- Integrate automated tests, quality gates, reporting, and release validation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Build and maintain test environments, test data, mocks, simulators, and containerized test infrastructure.
- Create and execute load, stress, endurance, scalability, and performance-regression tests.
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and collaborate with development and DevOps teams to prevent regressions.
- Validate workflows across distributed services, containers, databases, network components, and hardware-adjacent interfaces.
- Perform manual, exploratory, usability, and release testing before automating reliable scenarios.
- Investigate pipeline and test failures, distinguish product defects from automation or infrastructure issues, and improve test stability.
- Participate in architecture, design, code, and test reviews while collaborating across Product, Development, DevOps, Support, and engineering teams.
Requirements
- 5 to 7 years of professional experience in software development, quality engineering, test automation, or an SDET role.
- Strong programming or scripting skills in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Go, or comparable languages.
- Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks in production software environments.
- Experience testing REST APIs, microservices, web applications, system integrations, and distributed or multi-component systems.
- Hands-on experience with end-to-end automation and performance testing, including load, stress, endurance, scalability, and results analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized test or application environments.
- Comfort working in Linux environments and proficiency with Git.
- Understanding of test design, automation architecture, regression strategy, defect isolation, risk-based testing, concurrency, networking, asynchronous processing, and distributed-system performance.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, using automated quality gates, pipeline-as-code practices, actionable reporting, infrastructure as code, container orchestration, and automated environment provisioning.
- Experience with logging, monitoring, metrics, distributed tracing, alerting, and diagnosing issues across services, containers, databases, networks, and infrastructure.
- Experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, REST Assured, Postman/Newman, JMeter, Gatling, or k6 is an asset.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, cloud or hybrid environments, embedded systems, hardware-in-the-loop testing, telecommunications, network monitoring, fiber-optic networks, event-driven architectures, or real-time distributed systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of security, resilience, chaos, contract testing, service virtualization, and generative-AI coding assistants is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English and legal authorization to work in Canada are required.
