Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the organization-wide QA automation roadmap using test-pyramid, risk-based prioritization, and shift-left practices.
- Own the architecture, coding standards, maintainability rules, and reliability of shared web, API, and mobile automation frameworks.
- Establish release-blocking coverage definitions, flakiness thresholds, and standards for automated versus exploratory testing.
- Partner with Engineering Directors, Pod Leads, Product, and Platform/Infrastructure teams on trade-offs, environments, test data, and framework adoption.
- Mentor QA engineers and developers on automation practices, code review, and shared-tool adoption.
- Integrate automation with GitHub Actions, reporting systems, and actionable failure triage.
- Provide technical hiring signal for automation-related roles without owning formal people management.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of software quality engineering experience with deep test automation experience.
- Hands-on ownership of web and API automation frameworks, with Playwright strongly preferred and Cypress, Selenium, or Webdriver.io considered relevant.
- Experience designing modular, data-driven test suites with page or screen object patterns, tagging, and selective CI execution.
- Solid programming skills in TypeScript and/or JavaScript, with the ability to read and review production-adjacent code.
- Expertise in API testing, including contract and integration layers, and familiarity with SQL and test-data design.
- Experience integrating CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions and managing flaky tests and parallel execution.
- Familiarity with risk-based test prioritization and Agile, Scrum, or Kanban delivery.
- Exposure to mobile automation with Appium or BrowserStack is valuable.
- Strong technical leadership, mentoring, stakeholder communication, strategic planning, and constructive challenge skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English is required; Spanish is a plus.
- Nice-to-have qualifications include AI-assisted QA tooling, n8n, Linear, Qase or internal test-management platforms, fintech experience, ISTQB or equivalent certification, and prior QA Tech Lead or SDET Lead experience.
