Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of critical AI product initiatives on edge devices.
- Develop tactical AI solutions and strategic, longer-term research.
- Work with petabyte-scale customer-operations data, including text, transactions, diagnostics, sensor, camera, and location data.
- Partner across business units to prototype new AI experiences and optimize ML model performance on edge devices.
- Monitor industry and academic research and adopt relevant novel technologies.
- Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles while supporting global growth.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer.
- Profound experience optimizing ML models and systems for edge-compute constraints.
- Proficiency with Spark, Ray, or a similar framework.
- Coding proficiency in Python or a similar language.
- Coding proficiency in C++ or Rust.
- Strong functional knowledge of iterative machine learning product development.
- Experience developing and shipping production code at large scale.
- Ability to turn informal or ambiguous customer and business requirements into clear problem definitions.
- Ability to communicate with technical peers and leadership teams with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Experience coaching and mentoring ML Engineers.
- Experience self-serving data for experiments and model training at scale is preferred.
- An established record of high-impact AI deliveries is preferred.
- Deep knowledge of state-of-the-art computer vision and multimodal models is preferred.
