Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Windows kernel-mode drivers and user-mode components such as mini-filters, WFP network callouts, and WDF function drivers.
- Debug low-level issues including crash dumps, BSODs, race conditions, and IRQL violations using WinDbg or similar tools.
- Own driver components or feature areas end-to-end from design through shipping and support.
- Build and maintain related Windows services, DLLs, and COM interfaces primarily in C/C++.
- Participate in code reviews, mentor and onboard less experienced engineers, and contribute to technical design decisions.
- Work with QA and testing teams to ensure driver stability and support WHQL/HLK certification where applicable.
- Collaborate with product, QA, and support teams to translate requirements into production-ready driver code.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience with hands-on Windows systems or kernel development.
- Hands-on experience building or maintaining Windows kernel-mode drivers or user-mode components using technologies such as KMDF, WDM, WDF, UMDF, mini-filters, or WFP.
- Strong systems-level C and/or C++ skills, with C# as a secondary language for tooling, services, or test harnesses.
- Solid understanding of Windows internals, including memory management, process and thread scheduling, IRQL, and synchronization.
- Experience with WinDbg or equivalent kernel debugging tools and crash-dump analysis.
- Evidence of early technical leadership, such as owning a module or feature, mentoring a teammate, or serving as a de facto technical lead.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Preferred experience includes file-system mini-filters, WFP network drivers, driver signing, WHQL/HLK, Windows services, DLLs, COM, or endpoint security technologies.
