Responsibilities
- Own and improve Hub’s fleet propagation mechanism for access, secrets, tenants, licences, and custom roles.
- Write design documents, gain cross-team agreement, and turn foundational designs into tested production code.
- Design behavior for offline clusters, partial failures, Hub outages, cluster adoption, and cluster detachment.
- Build cluster-to-Hub flows for deployment inventory, health, audit records, and licence status.
- Design Hub’s event and webhook mechanism so administrators and agents can respond to changes without polling.
- Participate in backend reviews, contract-test development, pod rotations, and Hub on-call.
Requirements
- Production experience building and operating backend systems that customers or other teams depend on.
- Experience designing and shipping a control plane or similar system that pushes desired state to many targets, including outbox or event-log patterns, idempotent application, versioning, retries, and drift reconciliation.
- Senior backend engineering experience with Java, API design, relational data models, and multi-tenant SaaS services.
- Hands-on experience with Helm and Kubernetes for self-managed installations.
- Experience with software architecture, distributed-system failure analysis, partial failure, blast radius, consistency trade-offs, and production incident debugging.
- Experience shaping APIs or platforms as products and writing design documents for other teams.
- Ability to build AI-first from written specifications and carefully review AI-generated output.
- Preferred experience includes Kubernetes operators, GitOps tools such as Argo CD, OIDC, SCIM, permission models, secret managers, licence systems, Camunda 8 or another workflow/orchestration engine, and enough frontend skill to build a thin UI.
