Base Salary
$170k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build automation and self-healing tools to monitor and maintain SDN infrastructure.
- Improve routing convergence, traffic engineering, policy enforcement, and fault isolation.
- Implement and maintain high-performance virtualized networking services such as overlays, service meshes, and programmable data planes.
- Support user-facing networking services by improving availability, latency, performance, and error-budget adherence.
- Investigate and resolve networking incidents using telemetry, flow logs, and packet-level analysis.
- Partner with hardware and kernel teams to optimize network stacks, drivers, and control planes.
- Contribute to fault-tolerant and scalable SDN backend architecture for AI-focused cloud environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in production engineering, systems engineering, or networking engineering.
- Demonstrated experience automating network provisioning, configuration, and remediation.
- Hands-on experience with SDN platforms and protocols including Open vSwitch, ONOS, Tungsten Fabric, Calico, Cilium, and EVPN/VXLAN.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or C.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and deployment tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
- Deep knowledge of Linux internals, networking subsystems, kernel modules, and packet scheduling.
- Familiarity with BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, and network virtualization technologies.
- Strong experience with containerized workloads, Kubernetes, Docker, CNI plugins, and Kubernetes-layer service networking.
- Experience operating managed networking services at scale, including AWS VPC, Transit Gateway, GCP VPC, and Azure Virtual Network.
- Excellent incident response, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Candidates should demonstrate networking and CNI experience rather than general Kubernetes cluster management experience.
