Technical Lead – Lightspeed UI

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve frontend architecture, standards, and engineering practices for the Lightspeed UI chapter.
  • Build production software for complex features, architectural improvements, and performance initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve technical debt, architectural risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead technical design and code reviews while mentoring UI developers and raising engineering standards.
  • Own the shared component library and design-system integration.
  • Champion responsible use of AI-assisted development by ensuring generated code is understood, tested, secure, and maintainable.
  • Partner with Backend and Platform Engineering on integration patterns and CI/CD technologies.
  • Create and drive Jira work items covering bugs, technical changes, and architectural improvements through completion.
  • Collaborate with Product and Design to maintain visibility into technical priorities, dependencies, and risks.

Requirements

  • Strong frontend engineering and technical leadership experience with the ability to influence architecture and engineering direction.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in modern Angular, including the application’s Angular v21 environment.
  • Expert TypeScript skills, including advanced types, generics, and compiler configuration.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.
  • Production experience with React and modern frontend development practices.
  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture, micro-frontends, Module Federation, Nx, and scalable state management.
  • Expert Git knowledge and experience with CI/CD, monorepos, and collaborative code review.
  • Experience identifying and resolving technical debt and architectural challenges.
  • Experience contributing to or owning a shared component library or design system.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and validating and testing their output.
  • Comfort working in Jira and Kanban environments and independently owning technical work.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across Engineering, Product, and Design.
  • Preferred qualities include large-scale enterprise experience, open-source contributions, engineering standards work, or experimentation with emerging technologies.
