Staff Software Engineer

- Own customer success through a multi-year, multi-stakeholder software roadmap spanning multiple teams.
- Drive architecture and capability evolution for robotic systems, including hardware, compute, storage, networking, service orchestration, and software platform concerns.
- Partner with external teams on interface requirements across diverse systems and technologies.
- Lead teams developing on-platform and off-platform software and represent software engineering in cross-functional stakeholder discussions.
- Design and implement development processes, full-lifecycle testing, and hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop simulation fixtures.
- Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment while owning software delivery, operation, sustainment, and evolution.
- Mentor senior software engineers and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a leadership position within a high-performing technology organization and extensive professional software engineering experience.
- Systems or application programming skills covering algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing, infrastructure, software design, and system design.
- Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems and working across the software stack throughout the lifecycle.
- Ability to own an entire software system, including stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
- Ability to mentor senior team members, build team cohesion, and develop team capacity.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include senior military mission-system delivery experience, C++, Rust, Go, TypeScript, React, horizontally scaled cloud technologies, embedded robotics software, modeling and simulation, high-assurance safety-critical software, and product delivery experience through manufacturing, acceptance, deployment, and sustainment.
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering concepts and interest in progressing toward Principal Software Engineer, Senior Manager, or Tech-Lead-Manager responsibilities.
