Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for Telescope’s architecture, component standards, release practices, and quality bars.
- Drive the design-system contribution model and improve how product teams interact with the team.
- Own request triage, prioritisation, and stakeholder expectations.
- Improve developer and contributor experience through tooling, automation, visual testing workflows, and documentation publishing.
- Measure and communicate design-system adoption and system health.
- Lead team rituals and represent Design Systems in cross-team Design and Engineering initiatives.
- Coach and mentor engineers and help grow technical leadership in the frontend community.
- Contribute hands-on code as a meaningful part of the role.
Requirements
- Experience building and maintaining component libraries or platform-like products serving multiple teams.
- Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend engineering; React experience is a plus.
- Ability to design maintainable systems with clear boundaries, versioning, and backwards compatibility.
- Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices and tooling.
- Strong knowledge of accessibility and performance best practices for UI systems.
- Experience collaborating with designers and product engineers and navigating stakeholder tradeoffs.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, communicate clearly, coach others, and drive solutions pragmatically.
